My thoughts on what a community choir is all about.

Our voices are our own, personal and individual. People have often said to me, “Oh I’d love to sing but I was told at school just to mime”. I think that’s wrong – to tell someone not to sing is to deny them their voice – it goes right to the heart of who we are and how we think about ourselves; our singing voice is part of what makes us human.
So for me Village Voices is about:
*Creating a safe place for our singing voices to be explored and heard in an accepting and non-judgemental environment.
*Everyone who wants to sing with others having the opportunity to do so.
*Making sure no-one feels excluded if they don’t read music, but equally using sheet music for those that want to.
*Building confidence in ourselves as singers and performers.
*Making the best and most beautiful sound and music that we can.
*Enjoying ourselves.
